Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) director Col. Felipe Maraggun said the suspect was just released from the Bilibid Prison Maximum Security on May 10 after being jailed in 2018 for the crimes of illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms.
A tip from a police informant said the suspect had returned to his previous illegal activities following his release, prompting them to launch a surveillance operation for two weeks.
The suspect, tagged as a high-value individual by the police, yielded 100 grams of shabu worth P700,000 and a pistol loaded with live ammunition. He claimed that the drugs and pistol were not his.
"Hindi po sa akin ‘yun. Gumagamit po ako dati. Hindi po nagbebenta (The seized drugs are not mine. Yes, I was using illegal drugs before, but I'm not a drug dealer)," the suspect said.
The repeat offender will be charged for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Omnibus Election Code due to the ongoing gun ban which ends on June 11.
