Geely Auto has officially unveiled the Yinhe M9, a new six-seater flagship SUV, during an international event in Milan, Italy. The vehicle showcases Geely's latest advancements in electrified mobility and artificial intelligence, with the company positioning it as a global benchmark for intelligent, sustainable SUV design.
Geely Yinhe M9
The Yinhe M9 represents the production evolution of the Galaxy Starship concept first introduced at Auto China 2024. While the Starship SUV previewed a dramatic future vision with suicide-gullwing hybrid doors, minimalistic three-seat interiors, and AI-powered holograms, the M9 brings key elements of that concept into a road-ready form. The M9 preserves the grand proportions and tech-forward cabin while adapting the design into a more conventional, production-feasible layout.
Built on Geely's EM-P Super Hybrid architecture, the Yinhe M9 integrates the company’s AI Cloud 2.0 system. According to Geely, the system delivers a fuel consumption rate of just 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers while also enabling strong performance, with a claimed 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. This balance of efficiency and power places the M9 among the more performance-oriented electrified SUVs in its segment.

The M9 shares a conceptual lineage with the Starship’s use of Geely’s high-efficiency hybrid technology. The Starship concept featured the NordThor hybrid system boasting 46% thermal efficiency, while the M9 uses a version of this same EM-P super hybrid approach. Though not confirmed to match the concept's claimed 2,000 km combined range, the M9 reflects the company’s transition of experimental hybrid performance into practical application.
Inside, the M9 debuts Geely’s next-generation AI Smart Cockpit and G-Pilot H5 Intelligent Driving Assistance System. These technologies allow for real-time interaction between driver and vehicle, enhanced route planning, and semi-autonomous driving features. An upgraded suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is also present, contributing to what the company claims is a five-star-plus safety rating.

Though it lacks the more speculative elements of the Galaxy Starship—such as the AI-powered holographic avatar or the full seat egress system—the M9 retains the spirit of digital integration. It includes AI-based personalization features, enhanced OTA capabilities, and a cockpit likely powered by Snapdragon-based computing, as hinted at in the Starship concept and seen in other Geely models.
Visually, the Yinhe M9 embraces what Geely describes as a blend of "Eastern wisdom with international aesthetics," resulting in a design that is both commanding and elegant. The six-seat configuration caters to families and executive transport needs, while generous dimensions hint at ample interior space. Though specific cabin measurements were not disclosed, the vehicle's stature and layout suggest a premium, comfort-focused interior.

"With nearly 30 years of accumulated expertise and experience in car manufacturing, Geely has established a global strategic system... This global footprint will help lead the global automotive industry in high-quality, sustainable development in electrification, low-carbon practices, and intelligence," said Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group.
The Yinhe M9’s introduction accompanied the announcement of Geely Auto's "Five by Five" global strategy, a development framework that includes international design and R&D centers, powertrain diversification, and AI integration. While the strategy underscores Geely's broader ambitions, the M9 serves as its most tangible expression so far—blending innovation with a market-ready product.
As the SUV enters international markets, Geely aims to position it as a flagship model that embodies the brand’s push toward a more intelligent and sustainable automotive future.
