LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – A barangay captain in Pili town in Camarines Sur province was gunned down on Thursday morning, June 5.
Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 (Bicol region) spokesperson, identified the victim as Nerio Brazal of Barangay San Juan.

Investigation said the victim was sitting inside a meat shop when two men wearing bonnets onboard a motorcycle arrived and fired at him.
Brazal sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Calubaquib said the gunmen fled and the subjects of a pursuit operation and follow-up investigation.
Camarines Sur police chief Police Col. Virgilio Olalia Jr. said they are also collecting closed-circuit television footages and identifying witnesses.
Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, PRO-5 chief, vowed justice for the victim.
"The Police Regional Office-5, headed by Police Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon, extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the bereaved family of the victim,” Dizon said.
“We acknowledge the severity of this loss and its profound impact on the local community. We assure the public that all necessary actions are being taken to resolve this case swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice. We shall remain firmly committed to maintaining peace and order in the region and to preventing similar acts of violence in the future. We urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with us by providing any relevant information that may assist in the investigation. Justice will be pursued with urgency, integrity, and resolve."
