This collection brings the charm of Italian lidos to the Philippines

Gucci gives a glimpse of Mediterranean dreams

Apart from being a tool for self-expression, an avenue for creativity, and a way to challenge norms, fashion is also an invitation to explore. Designers and brands produce pieces that transport people’s minds to far-off places, allowing them to dream of a better life, a grander scene. In this way, fashion becomes not just something we wear, but something we feel—a passport to places we long for, and a reflection of the worlds we wish to inhabit.

A testament to that is Gucci’s latest collection, which captures the beauty of the Mediterranean shores through its signature pieces. Dubbed Gucci Lido, the 2025 collection is inspired by the charm of Italy’s coastal lidos, encouraging everyone to embrace slow-living moments by the sea and in nature. The term “lido” comes from the Italian word for “beach,” and these seaside retreats are synonymous with relaxed coastal leisure—sunbathing, swimming, and socializing—all themes the collection aims to impart to its wearers.

Earlier this month, the Florentine brand brought the collection to its boutique at the Shoppes in Solaire Resort, Parañaque City, offering a glimpse of the Mediterranean littoral through texture and color. Highlights of the collection include the iconic Gucci Softbit, GG Marmont, and Bamboo 1947 handbags, reimagined using materials and techniques such as raffia, wicker, and crochet. The bags come in a medley of rosso ancora, earthy browns, and various shades of blue, echoing the serene hues of a beachside sunset.

The collection’s sense of ease is also reflected in the womenswear line. Nautical style gets a modern twist, with anchors, knots, and stripes paired with the house’s signature monogram. The menswear line, on the other hand, draws inspiration from the allure of pristine waters. Leather bags, accessories, and sneakers come in ombré blues, while denim pieces, jacquard knit polo shirts, and embroidered poplin shirts round out the laid-back, coastal look.
The Gucci Lido 2025 collection will soon be available at other Gucci boutiques across the Philippines.
