Michelle Cobb retires from volleyball

Michelle Cobb is retiring from playing volleyball, the veteran setter announced on a social media post Wednesday night, June 4.

The 26-year-old skipper of the Akari Chargers in the Premier Volleyball League thanked the people who cheered and supported her throughout her career and added that she has “decided to close this chapter.”

“After years of love and dedication to the game… I’m retiring with a grateful heart, proud of everything this journey has given me,” she wrote.

“Volleyball has been a huge part of my life. It’s where I found confidence, built lifelong friendships, and learned to push myself, win with pride, and lose with grace,” she added.

Cobb, however, will still remain involved with Akari as an assistant manager and setting coach.

“As I step away from the game, I carry the strength, love, and determination it gave me. This isn’t the end — just a new chapter, written with the same heart that played every point,” she said.

Cobb played for the De La Salle Lady Spikers during her collegiate years where she helped the school clinch two titles in Season 79 and 80.

After college, she joined the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the defunct Philippine Superliga in 2018 and 2019 before making her professional debut with Akari in 2022.

With Akari, she helped the Chargers secure the silver medal in the 2024 Reinforced Conference and bronze in the 2024-25 All-Filipino.
