Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano expressed her support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s decision to suspend the rehabilitation of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), highlighting the President’s wisdom in reducing the disruptions caused by necessary repairs.
“We fully commend the President's proactive approach to finding alternative methods that will ensure a shorter rehabilitation period, minimizing inconvenience for commuters and motorists, and maximizing efficiency,” Rubiano said.
Rubiano emphasized the need for a stricter traffic management plan and the importance of public consultations to prevent further deterioration of the severe traffic congestion in Metro Manila.
She said the President’s commitment to finding a faster, more efficient solution, targeting completion within six to 12 months using advanced technologies, demonstrates his genuine concern for Filipinos who rely on EDSA for their daily commute, while still ensuring the upgrade of the vital infrastructure.
The mayor added that the city supports the President's proactive approach in improving the urban infrastructure of Metro Manila while minimizing inconvenience and listening to the Filipino people.
Rubiano said Pasay is also ready to participate in discussions and extend the necessary support to ensure a well-planned and people-centered rehabilitation of EDSA.
