Jones Bridge to feature weekly lights, sounds show starting June 7
The Jones Bridge in Binondo, Manila, is set to light up with a weekly lights and sounds show starting on Saturday, June 7, according to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
This initiative is part of the ongoing revitalization of the Pasig River under the “Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli” (Revive Pasig) or PBBM Project, a flagship program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration aimed at bringing new life to one of Metro Manila’s iconic waterways.
DHSUD Assistant Secretary Mark Sambar explained that work on the third phase of the project is still underway to make the riverside more accessible to the public. The Pasig River Esplanade is being expanded to provide more spaces for walking, biking, and sightseeing.
The anticipated lights and sounds show is expected to be a major new attraction, not only for Manila residents, but also for tourists seeking to experience the city’s renewed charm at night.
The initiative, which connects the historic districts of Intramuros and Binondo, is being carried out in collaboration with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII).
As Manila continues to undergo urban transformation, the city government of Manila said the Jones Bridge light show stands as a symbol of the city’s efforts to blend heritage preservation with modern development.
