This period is crucial for parents and guardians who need to register their children for the upcoming school year.
Following the early registration period conducted earlier this year, DepEd expects an increase in student enrollees during the official enrollment window.
To streamline the process and ensure smooth enrollment, DepEd has also issued the implementing guidelines on the school calendar and academic activities for the upcoming year.
Enrollment details
Classes for SY 2025–2026 will officially commence on Monday, June 16.
Families were urged to complete the registration process within the designated enrollment period to avoid delays.
Parents are advised to prepare all required documents in advance. Public schools will offer both online and on-site enrollment options for added convenience.
DepEd encouraged early registration for incoming kindergarten students, first-time basic education learners, transferees to public schools, and students entering Grades 1, 7, and 11, as well as potential Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners.
Early registration typically runs from the last Saturday of January to the last Friday of February or follows a schedule issued by DepEd. In case of disruptions, the Schools Division Office (SDO) may extend the registration period.
Students advancing to Grades 2 to 6, 8 to 10, and 12 are considered automatically “pre-registered.”
Opening of classes for SY 2025–2026
In April, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara issued DepEd Order No. 012, s. 2025, titled "Multi-Year Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities."
The guidelines aim to help schools and community learning centers (CLCs) efficiently manage academic activities while maximizing instructional time, in line with the Marcos administration’s educational goals.
According to DepEd, the school year will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026.
The academic calendar will consist of up to 197 class days, including End-of-School-Year (EOSY) rites. Adjustments may be made if unforeseen circumstances arise.
Private schools, Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs), and state/local universities and colleges offering basic education may adopt the same guidelines. However, they must comply with the required number of class days and align with the official school opening.
"Schools shall report any inevitable deviation from these guidelines in advance to their respective regional offices," DepEd emphasized.
Return to pre-pandemic calendar
The upcoming school year marks a return to the pre-pandemic academic calendar.
DepEd said that in-person learning will remain the primary mode of instruction. However, Distance Learning Delivery Modalities (DLDMs)—such as Modular Distance Learning (MDL), Online Distance Learning (ODL), TV-Based Instruction (TVI), Radio-Based Instruction (RBI), or blended learning—may be utilized if in-person classes are suspended due to emergencies or hazards.
Mandatory health assessments for students
DepEd has also announced that all learners will undergo mandatory health assessments during Brigada Eskwela and within the first three weeks of classes.
These assessments, carried out by school health personnel in coordination with class advisers, will include general physical exams, body system evaluations, vision and hearing screenings, oral health checks, immunization status reviews, and assessments of medical and family histories.
Brigada Eskwela, or National Schools Maintenance Week, is an annual initiative that brings together communities and school stakeholders to prepare public schools for the new academic year.
