CEBU CITY – His courtesy resignation as head of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) may have been accepted but Terence Calatrava will still be part of the Marcos administration.

A source told Manila Bulletin that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s decision to accept Calatrava’s resignation is part of a restructuring that will be implemented within the office of the Special Assistant to the President headed by Secretary Anton Lagdameo.
“Anton Lagdameo is supposedly retiring so there will be some restructuring. The OPAV will be abolished but Calatrava and the other personnel there will be reassigned to other offices,” the source said.
Calatrava, a Cebu-based businessman, was appointed as OPAV chief in December 2022.
Under Calatrava, OPAV initiated the Bagong Pilipinas caravan of services in Cebu, Negros, and Capiz.
OPAV was involved in monitoring and intervention during calamities in the Visayas.
It also spearheaded the coordination of all agencies concerned in the mitigation of flooding in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue.
OPAV led regular coordination with national government agencies in the Visayas to ensure prompt delivery of services.
Providing logistics and support in all presidential visits in the Visayas and provision to individuals seeking medical assistance were also undertaken when Calatrava headed OPAV.
