Brenda Burdeos, project development officer IV of the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (CCLDO), said that 400 to 700 sacks of NFA rice will be delivered daily for the program’s initial rollout.
The city government has allocated P7.9 million for the purchase of 5,880 bags of rice for the first batch.
“These are fresh, well-milled rice stocks directly sourced from a farm and processed in an accredited rice mill in Valladolid, Negros Occidental,” Burdeos said. She noted that the rice will be stored at the BCGC or a city-accredited warehouse and not in NFA storage facilities.
To streamline distribution, this city’s 41 numbered barangays and 20 named villages will be grouped into clusters.
The program will be officially launched at the Burgos Public Market on Thursday, June 5, with Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. in attendance.
Burdeos said that priority beneficiaries include solo parents, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and indigent residents.
Each family may purchase a maximum of 10 kilos, she said. Purchases will be monitored by assigned personnel, and recipients will be issued purchase slips for tracking and accountability.
