Kevin Dasom from Thailand is enjoying his role as the Manhunt International 2024 pageant king, despite being single and not having an active nightlife.
During a recent interview at the Jojo Bragais Store in Quezon City, Kevin revealed that he prefers to go to bed early and is not ready to mingle.
"I do not do the nightlife. No matter what country you go to, nightlife is all the same. I enjoy early nights and spending time at home, just watching Netflix or enjoying some alone time," he said.
Kevin mentioned that becoming a pageant king requires sacrifices.
"Once you become a pageant king, your life has changed, and there are a lot of sacrifices you have to make. If you can make it work, congratulations! If not, make it work. It's a trade-off," he said.
Kevin also said he's not ready to mingle, adding that "I belong to Jesus."
"I don't smoke, but I enjoy a cold bottle of beer. Not even social drinking. But I enjoy going out and having a nice cold bottle of beer or wine with some nice food. Often, due to my schedule, it's no longer convenient for me to go out and spend several hours outside," he said.
Kevin said that he's excited about his promising movie career in Manila after being signed by Sparkle Artists Center.
"It's awesome! I just got my schedule for May and June. I can't say one is better than the other, but the entire journey has been exciting.
"After my taping in June, I'll be taking up vigorous lessons in learning how to speak Tagalog at least two hours a day — something like that. I have signed a long-term contract with Empire Philippines and Sparkle," Kevin added.
Misconceptions
Kevin defended male pageants in response to common misconceptions about them.
"A lot of people look at it as eye candy. Many people say a lot of things on social media. But for me, the most important thing when you join male pageantry is your body. You have to pass the eye test.
"If you don't pass the eye test, you won't be given the opportunity, and that's just the way it is. "So if you want to join pageants, you have to work on yourself first: your mind, heart, your body, and what you want to give to pageantry," Kevin said.
The Thai pageant king slammed allegations that some candidates slept with the judges to win the pageant.
"That's rubbish! If that was the case, then there's no credibility in the pageant. In two international pageants I've attended, I've never seen this. It's easy to discredit the winners when fans support the candidates they want to see win. And if they fail, then passionate fans get something to say. Outsiders don't know what's happening inside the pageant. In my opinion, judges know who should win," Kevin said.
Kevin has been going back and forth to the Philippines since 2018. "I've always loved returning to the Philippines because it feels like home. The warm and kind people that I have worked with."
On the qualities of a lifetime partner, Kevin said that he always looks for unconditional love. "You want to look for someone loving, caring, and kind."
Kevin stated that he never considered himself good-looking while growing up, as he viewed himself as unattractive during his youth.
"I was ugly growing up. I was chubby with curly hair. I had scars all over my face. I had baby fat until I was 24 or 25. I was never really considered handsome. I'm a late bloomer. I have never really developed my mind to approach women in that sense," he said.
Kevin believes that working out and eating healthy help him look better and stay strong.
"I work out and eat healthy food not to look good but to feel good. I want to be strong. Looking good is a result of taking care of yourself.
"I've accomplished a great deal with it. I'm old now. I'm turning 33 next month. I need to focus on other things—time to move on to the next stage of life. I want to give back to the next generation of candidates by providing them with training," he said.
While he is having a wonderful time in the Philippines, Kevin mentioned that he dreams of a career in Hollywood.
"When setting goals or dreams, it is essential to dream as big as you can. Otherwise, why call it dreams or goals? Others call it unrealistic, but to me, that's good," he added.
