Las Pinas City's mayor-elect April Aguilar led the distribution of relief goods to 260 individuals displaced by a fire that hit houses on Samatierra Compound, Las Pinas City on Tuesday, June 3.
Aguilar, along with members of the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), provided sleeping and hygiene kits and food packs to residents who are temporarily staying in evacuation centers.
The city government also set up modular tents to provide each family with privacy and comfort.
The mayor-elect said the city government also provided the victims with health assistance and essential medicines, especially those who need their maintenance medicines.
Based on the report of the Las Piñas Bureau of Fire, the fire started at 1:02 p.m. at Samatierra Compound in Barangay Almanza Uno, Las Piñas, and spread to several homes in Barangay BF Homes which were all made of light materials. The fire was contained at around 1:40 p.m.
She said five individuals were injured during the incident and were given medical treatment.
The BFP said a resident reportedly doused water on a pan filled with boiling cooking oil which caused the fire.
