Government anti-narcotics agents seized P6,854,400 worth of shabu that eventually led to the arrest of a female consignee during an interdiction operation at the Ninoy Aquino International (NAIA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday, June 3.
The PDEA Regional Office National Capital Region said that the seized package was declared as “lady’s wear and bags” that was shipped from Ontario, Canada.
The 28-year old suspect known as alias ‘Ruth,’ who was the listed consignee, insisted that she was unaware that the parcel contained illegal drugs.
During the June 2 inspection, authorities discovered numerous self-sealing transparent plastic bags wrapped in foil and cling wrap, all containing approximately one kilogram of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
Aside from shabu, the agents confiscated a mobile phone, a notice card and several identification cards, one bearing the consignee’s name and others found to be fake and under different identities.
The suspect faces charges for violation of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
