ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two vendors were shot dead in Akbar municipality, Basilan province on Tuesday, June 3.
Police identified the victims as Radzmel Marajan Jumadil, 25, a resident of Barangay Mariki, Zamboanga City, and Adih J. Villacura, 21, from Purok 5, Barangay Aguada, Isabela City.
Investigation said the victims were onboard a tricycle with their merchandise when an unidentified gunman blocked their path.
The suspect opened fire on the vendors with an M16 rifle.
Jumadil died on the spot from a bullet wound in the forehead. Adih was wounded in the back and died. Their driver escaped unharmed.
The suspect fled towards the mountainous region of Barangay Mangalut.
Recovered from the crime scene was an empty M16 shell.
Police are conducting manhunt and follow-up operations.
