BACOLOD CITY – The two drivers who were involved in the tragic death of a six-month pregnant nurse in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental were released from police custody on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, after they posted a total bail of P120,000.
Police Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, Bago City police chief, said that 30-year-old Philip of Barangay Cabug here and 59-year-old Salvador of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental posted bail of P50,000 and P70,000, respectively, through a surety bond.
Both drivers were charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and unintentional abortion before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC), according to Pico.
Pico said the two drivers were released from detention at 4:45 p.m.
The 36-year-old victim was crossing a pedestrian lane on her way to work in Valladolid, Negros Occidental when she was hit by a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) driven by Philip and allegedly ran over by a sedan driven by Salvador after she was thrown off to the opposite lane due to the impact on Sunday night, June 1.
Pico said that the court has set the first trial on June 10.
