The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has suspended the daily issuance of heat index reports following the declaration of the onset of the rainy season.
PAGASA suspends daily heat index reports as rainy season begins
In an advisory released on Tuesday, June 3, PAGASA announced that the suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place until March 1, 2026, when the hot and dry season typically begins in many parts of the country.
“With the official declaration of the onset of the rainy season, our daily issuance of heat index information will be temporarily suspended starting today,” the agency said.
During this period, PAGASA will focus on monitoring and disseminating timely and accurate information on weather hazards associated with the rainy season, including heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides.
Although daily heat index forecasts are paused, real-time data remains available through PAGASA’s automatic weather stations and the interactive iHeatMap, both accessible via the agency’s website.
PAGASA advised residents in areas still experiencing high temperatures to stay informed through official announcements from their local government units.
