Noel Quemque Flores, a barangay councilor in Alang-Alang, Mandaue, reported the incident to the Station 1 of the Mandaue City Police Office on Tuesday afternoon.
Flores identified his alleged attacker as Ian Luigi Cortes, nephew of Cortes, who ran for mayor but lost in the recent midterm elections.
Flores said he was sleeping at home when he received a phone call from Ian around 12:50 a.m.
He said Ian asked him to meet him outside his house on S.B. Cabahug St. to talk.
Thinking that Ian meant well and believing it was an opportunity for them to mend their differences, Flores agreed to meet the suspect.
Outside his house, Flores said he was surprised when an angry Ian confronted him.
Flores said Ian called him “arrogant and boastful.”
The complainant added that another man on a motorcycle arrived and hit him with a helmet at the back of his head.
Flores said Ian joined the fray and repeatedly punched him.
Ian has yet to respond on the allegations against him as of posting time.
