Leading an inspection at the NAIA-Terminal 3 on Tuesday, June 3, Marcos said he was able to see for himself that there has several improvements at the airport, including facilities for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
"The best way is to go and look for myself. Kaya nandito tayo at tiningnan ko at masasabi ko naman na marami na rin, at marami na rin talaga na tayong naging pagbabago, especially again, I'm always concerned dahil sa totoo naman, ang mga tiga-labas, dayuhan, pumupunta rito, business travelers, turista, e mabilis ang kanilang pagdaan sa airport (That is why we are here and I can say that there has been a lot of improvements, especially again, I'm always concerned because the foreigners, business travelers, and tourist are moving fast at the airport)," Marcos said.
"At kitang kita namin na marami na ang mga pagbabago, and the facilities for the OFW ay gumanda (And the changes are very evident, and the facilities for the OFWs are improving)," Marcos added.
The President also said that he held an inspection at the airport to see whether the feedback he has been hearing since December last year was indeed true.
"So I've also been hearing feedback especially after Christmas na may improvement talaga na nakita dito sa (that there has been improvements at the) airport and I wanted to see it for myself," he said.
Marcos further said that the inspection was also meant to assess the new projects for the Manila airport to hasten the movement of travelers going in and out of the country.
"As you know, we just made an inspection. The reason why is meron kami ina-assess na bago pang project para sa ating airport dito sa Manila para pabilisin ang pagdaloy ng ating mga travelers, both in and out lalong lalo na ang mga OFW (there are new projects that we are assessing for our airport in Manila to speed up the movement of our travelers, both in and out of the country, especially the OFWs)," he said.
The Chief Executive also cited plans to expand the airport to handle more passengers.
"Not only was I able to see it for myself but I also heard from the chairman of NNIC (New NAIA Infra Corp.) that we are, of all the new continuing plans, that he has to expand the airport so that we are able to handle and process more passengers, more travelers, more tourists," Marcos said.
During the inspection, he also checked the airport's immigration system to see how to improve it.
Aside from the Immigration area, Marcos conducted a walkthrough of other airport facilities such the OFW Immigration Annex, OFW Lounge and OFW Rest Area, Transportation Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) area, and Arrival curbside area.
