DHSUD: Private developers commit over 51,000 housing units to PBBM's mass housing
Two more private real estate developers have committed more than 15,000 housing units for the informal settler families and low-income earners as the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) goes all out to lessen the housing backlog before the end of President Marcos’ term.
Last week, the Raemulan Lands Inc., (RLI) said they could provide 35,656 units in the provinces of Pampanga, Cavite, Bulacan and Laguna to the government’s mass housing program, or the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling said two more private developers made the commitment— Fiesta chief executive officer (CEO) Christopher Ryan Tan committed at least 6,387 units while 8888/Deca Homes President and CEO Vincent Sotto pledged 9,498 houses.
“This is a great start for our recalibrated 4PH, a strong indication that we are on the right track in expanding President Marcos’ flagship housing program to include horizontal developments. This will surely boost the private sector’s confidence in the program,” Aliling said.
“We will continue to explore all feasible modalities under recalibrated 4PH, not only to prop up the numbers but more importantly as our way of listening to clamor from stakeholders,” he added.
The commitment of support came after Aliling opened the mass housing program to horizontal developments or subdivision-like housing projects.
Top DHSUD officials are now crafting the guidelines for the new concept.
