A Commission on Appointments (CA) panel has recommended the confirmation of Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon as Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief on Tuesday, June 3.
No member of the CA’s Committee on Transportation objected when Rep. LRay Villafuerte made the motion to recommend Dizon.
The panel’s recommendation is then transmitted for approval to the plenary which has been scheduled to a later date.
Dizon replaced Jaime Bautista, who had resigned for health reasons, last February 2025.
During the hearing, Dizon confirmed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. rejected his courtesy resignation when he was asked by Sen. Joel VIllanueva.
He said it was Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin who called him up and confirmed that the President did not accept his resignation.
Meanwhile, the Committee on Information and Communications Technology of the CA suspended the confirmation hearing for the ad interim appointment of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda due to lack of material time.
Like Dizon, Aguda confirmed that Bersamin called him up to inform him that the President did not also accept his courtesy resignation.
The confirmation hearing for Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz was also suspended due to lack of time.
When asked about the status of his courtesy resignation, Ruiz said he was told by Bersamin to just focus on his job because the President has yet to act on his document.
