When we run, we strengthen our heart, improve our lung capacity, and increase our cardiovascular endurance. It’s an inexpensive and accessible way of staying healthy since you can run almost anywhere without having to shell out money for memberships or equipment. Simply put on some decent running shoes and set off. If you’re still not convinced, here are some of the health benefits running has for your body.
Boosting brain function and feeling good
Through running, the body raises blood flow and delivers oxygen to the brain. In doing so, it increases our cognitive performance. Some runners also experience what is known as the “runner’s high,” wherein the body experiences a state of euphoria that allows us to push it even further. During this state, the runner also has lessened feelings of anxiety.
Healthy means of weight loss
Cardio exercises are often the go-to method for weight loss. When training, you can start simple by sprinting in short distances. As you get used to the short distances, you can add distances little by little to let your body adjust slowly. This simple process helps in burning calories and increases our metabolism to burn fat more efficiently.
Improved social skills
Sometimes running can get lonely. To counter this, consider running as a group or joining fun run events to be around other runners. On June 4, the world observes Global Running Day. To celebrate, sportswear company Hoka is celebrating through the campaign, “One Day, All Ways.” With this campaign, Hoka joins the global conversation by spotlighting the beauty and diversity of how people run. As a brand born from running, Hoka believes that running should be open, inclusive, and joyful. It is something anyone can take part in, regardless of how or why they do it. Hoka supports all kinds of runners and believes running is for everyone. Whether wearing the Clifton 10 or Bondi 9 for daily miles, reaching for the Cielo X1 2.0 or Rocket X2 on race day, taking on the trails in the Mafate X or Speedgoat, or hiking in comfort with the Hopara or Anacapa, there is a Hoka pair designed for you. Everyone who runs alone or with a group, on the road or on the trail, for speed, for health, for fun, or peace of mind, is invited to join the campaign. Every stride counts, no matter the pace, the place, or the purpose.
