Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will make his first official visit to the Philippines from June 4 to 5, following his reappointment last month, Malacañang announced Monday, June 2.

The visit comes at the invitation of President Marcos and will mark Prime Minister Wong’s first bilateral engagement since formally taking office in May. It will also be his introductory visit to the Philippines.
President Marcos and Prime Minister Wong are scheduled to meet on June 4 for bilateral talks to expand cooperation in health, climate change mitigation, and civil service capacity building, the Palace said in a statement.
"The two leaders are expected to discuss the growing bilateral ties between the Philippines and Singapore," it said.
"The leaders will also exchange views on political and economic issues of significance to the region,” it added.
Singapore was the Philippines’ eighth-largest trading partner in 2024 and is home to around 220,000 Filipinos, according to government data. The last time a Singaporean prime minister visited the country was in 2017.
Prime Minister Wong succeeded Lee Hsien Loong in May 2024 and was officially reaffirmed as prime minister in 2025, following the People’s Action Party’s continued leadership in Singapore.
President Marcos and Prime Minister Wong first met on the sidelines of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia in May 2023, where they discussed expanding economic collaboration, regional security, and digital infrastructure. During that meeting, Marcos expressed interest in learning from Singapore’s civil service and housing systems.
The upcoming visit will be the first time the two leaders meet bilaterally in Manila.
In a phone conversation in November last year, President Marcos thanked Prime Minister Wong for Singapore's assistance during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Singapore was one of four Southeast Asian countries that aided the Philippines following the devastation of Kristine. It sent a military aircraft, which was used to transport non-food relief items to Naga City.
In June 2023, the countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, which took effect in the same year.
In a bilateral meeting in Singapore in May 2024, President Marcos and Prime Minister Wong agreed to strengthen their countries' bilateral relations and explore new partnerships to adapt to the changing world.
Marcos told Wong that the Philippine government was eyeing developing the area as an industrial center with different facilities, such as manufacturing, semiconductor assembly, businesses, and green minerals processing, in which Singaporean investors could participate. For his part, Wong said there is very strong cooperation and positive momentum in the relationship between the two countries.
The Philippines and Singapore established diplomatic relations on May 16, 1969.
