Rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to affect parts of Luzon through midweek, with improving weather expected towards the end of the week, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, June 2.
PAGASA: Monsoon rains to persist over parts of Luzon, weather to improve towards weekend
PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said that from Tuesday to Wednesday, June 3 to 4, monsoon rains will prevail over the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
He explained that the rains may be continuous but with occasional breaks, especially from morning to midday, before resuming in the late afternoon or evening and possibly lasting until early morning.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected over the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and the western section of Southern Luzon.
By Thursday to Friday, June 5 to 6, Villamil said fewer areas will be affected by the habagat.
Improving weather is expected over Metro Manila and most of Luzon starting Thursday, with reduced cloudiness and warmer, more humid afternoons, he added.
However, Zambales, Bataan, and Palawan may still experience cloudy skies with scattered rains.
Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao can expect mostly fair weather, with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms likely in some areas, throughout the forecast period.
