In a statement, Domagoso said that with the ever changing landscape, skills, experience, and competency are not anymore the only things that are essential to respond to the needs of the people.
“Kung ano ‘yung nakita nila dati at nagustuhan nila, we will try to innovate kasi pabago-bago na ang panahon at may bago ring challenges. Tutugon tayo sa pangangailangan ng takbo ng panahon at ‘yun ang tingin ko na maio-offer natin this time (What they saw before and liked, we will try to innovate because times are changing and there are new challenges. We will respond to the needs of the times and that is what I think we will offer this time)," he noted.
As the elected mayor of the capital city, Domagoso underscored the need of the city government to be proactive and adaptive in serving its residents.
He also assured Manileños that his administration will introduce quick and modern methods to further streamline the delivery of public services to them.
Revival of complaint desk
On May 23, Domagoso announced the revival of the Manila Online Complaint Desk, an initiative first introduced during his previous tenure.
Domagoso hinted at the online service's relaunch on June 30, aiming to streamline the city's response to various complaints from Manileños -- particularly those concerning the city government itself.
"Traffic o walang oras pumunta sa city hall? Dadaanan natin ang information superhighway. One click away lang ang inyong pamahalaan sa Maynila! We will use social media to crowdsource ideas, implement best practices, punish bad behavior, and reward good governance. Isang PM ninyo lang, isang shoutout ninyo lang, alam ninyong sumasagot ako sa inyo (Traffic or no time to go to city hall? We will take the information superhighway. Your government in Manila is just one click away! We will use social media to crowdsource ideas, implement best practices, punish bad behavior, and reward good governance. Just one PM, just one shoutout, you know I answer to you)," Domagoso said.
He added that he had already tasked incoming Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) Director E-jhay Talagtag to revive the online complaint desk established in 2019.
Starting 12 p.m. on June 30, the online service will be operational again.
"Dito ay hinihikayat natin ang ating mamamayan na makibahagi sa ating pamahalaan. Malaya at ligtas silang makapagrereklamo o makapagbibigay ng suhestiyon direkta sa ating opisina (Here, we encourage our citizens to participate in our government. They can freely and safely complain or make suggestions directly to our office)," Domagoso explained.
"Wala nang iba pang mainam na intel report kundi mula sa mga taong saksi sa aberya, 'di kanais-nais na pangyayari, o sitwasyon (There is no better intel report than the firsthand accounts of those who witnessed an incident, an undesirable event, or a situation)," he stressed.
The mayor-elect pointed out that many citizens just shrug off their complaints and grievances with the city government because they lack the time or means to visit the city hall.
This prompted the creation of the Online Complaint Desk which they can access wherever they are.
