Fishers recover floating shabu worth P1.5 B in West Philippine Sea

MARIVELES, Bataan – Fishermen recovered floating shabu valued at P1.5 billion in the West Philippine Sea in Masinloc, Zambales on Thursday, May 29.

They turned over the contraband stored in sacks to authorities on Monday, June 2, upon arrival on land.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 3 commended the fishermen for their decision to turn over the banned substance in 222 assorted vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs weighing a kilo each.
Authorities are determining the origin of the item.
These will undergo forensic examination and confirmation at the PDEA-Central Luzon laboratory.
"The PDEA will continuously monitor all suspicious activities and remain steadfast in its commitment to eradicating drug smuggling in Central Luzon," the PDEA-Central Luzon said.
