ILOILO CITY – The Alimodian National Comprehensive High School in Alimodian town, Iloilo province sustained extensive damage in a fire on Monday, June 2.

An initial report by the Department of Education (DepEd) said five classrooms, the school canteen, clinic, band room, supply room, TLE office, and MAPEH office in separate buildings were either totally damaged or partially damaged by the fire that started around 3:45 a.m.
School principal Romar Cubin said majority of the rooms were in the old structure near the quadrangle.
Cubin said the structures were made mostly of wood and other light materials.
Initial investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that the fire may be electrical in nature.
The local government unit (LGU) of Alimodian is extending assistance to the school.
Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche said that they will coordinate with DepEd-Division of Iloilo in creating temporary classrooms at the gym as the new school year is set to open by June 16.
