The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allocated P207.5 million to upgrade the skills of more than 30,000 workers in a major economic hub, particularly in the Clark Freeport Zone, through advanced training programs aligned with emerging industry demands.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma led the launch of the initiative on May 28 during the “Alay sa Manggagawa” event, where the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) signed a deed of usufruct for the establishment of the Regional TVET Innovation Center (RTIC).
Once operational, the RTIC will offer specialized training in robotics, mechatronics, and smart healthcare technologies, supporting Clark’s growing role as an innovation-driven economic zone.
The event also marked the inauguration of the upgraded One-Stop Processing Center (OSPC) at the Clark Skills and Training Center, which streamlines access to services from key government agencies for workers, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and nearby residents.
To promote industrial harmony, a memorandum of agreement was signed between the CDC and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) to strengthen labor-management cooperation within the Freeport.
Also highlighted was the site inspection of the upcoming Pampanga Provincial Hospital in Clark Global City, a joint project of the provincial government, the Department of Health (DOH), and CDC, aimed at expanding access to healthcare services in the area.
Among those present during the event were TESDA Director General Jose Francisco Benitez, CDC President and CEO Agnes Devanadera, DOLE Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio, and Pampanga Governor-elect Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
