Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan congratulated Universidad de Manila (UdM) President Dr. Felma Carlos-Tria for the swift and orderly distribution of allowances for its students, totalling P3,000 each.
The said amount, according to Lacuna, covers the months from January to March 2025.
It was learned from Tria that the manual payout of the students' allowances covered the months of May 28 to 31.
Under the system employed ever since, the distribution of allowances for UdM students was made following a schedule for each college.
Tria said the total number of students who received P3,000 each totaled 10,115 for a grand total amount of P30,345,000.
Along with the UdM, about 8,000 students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) were also able to receive the same amount of monetary allowance but through debit card accounts.
The local government unit runs the two universities, whose students receive a P1,000 monthly allowance under the city's social amelioration program (SAP), which also provides monthly cash assistance to senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities.
