The pride of Lagawe, Ifugao introduced himself to the big stage, displaying his firepower and knocking down his Mexican counterpart in round 6 to get the nod of all the three judges with a 79-72, 78-73, and 78-73 scorecards.
The 26-year-old southpaw dictated the contest early on behind slick combinations and timely counters though Portillo was refusing to be outdone after also landing a couple of big hits to the head of Martin.
The deciding turn then came in the sixth round when Martin delivered a vicious left to the chin that sent Portillo kneeling on the canvas.
The Mexican did manage to get back up but it was simply all Martin from that point to secure the convincing win.
Martin remained undefeated with 26-0 record with 20 knockouts while Portillo slid to 19-13-2 record with 11 KOs.
