They are second batch of recipients, following the 25 that earlier received such vehicles, and all 70 barangays here have already received them.
The turnover ceremony at Sawangan Park here was attended by outgoing mayor and incoming Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Alfredo “Pido” Garbin Jr., Mayor-elect Hisham Ismail, city officials, and barangay officials who are beneficiaries of the emergency response vehicles.
Mayor Garbin thanked Ako Bicol for funding the purchase of emergency response vehicles under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
Co said this initiative is a significant step in strengthening the capacity of barangays to respond effectively during emergencies as well as in enhancing the efficiency of their official transactions and operations.
“Matagal na po namin itong ninanais. 2024 pa po itong budget, pero finally na-turn-over na natin itong rescue vehicles. Kung maalala ninyo pinangako natin ito nung barangay election, oath-taking nung mga nanalo sa barangay elections,” Co said.
He added that these vehicles will help maintain peace and order in every barangay here.
