Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla is confident that incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III will be able to accomplish President Marcos’ instruction to make the streets safer.
Remulla said he also expects Torre to deliver as he has a goof working relationship with the Chief Executive.
“Kapag sinabi ng Pangulo na ‘make the streets safer,’ makakasigurado kayo kasi very conclusive itong si General Torre (When the President says make the streets safer, we can be assured that General Torre is very conclusive in this matter),” Remulla said.
“Maganda ang rapport niya (Torre) sa Presidente (His rapport with the President is excellent),” he added.
With Torre at the helm, Remulla said the DILG looks forward to a renewed and stronger collaboration with the PNP.
Remulla shared that Torre’s dedication to protecting people stems from his father, a former police officer who died a hero in an assassination in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat.
“The department is confident that Torre’s leadership will drive transformation, innovation, and strengthen the PNP’s mandate to serve and protect,” Remulla said.
