President Marcos has extended his well wishes to the Gilas Pilipinas Boys team as they defeated Indonesia, 70-40, at the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA (Southeast Asia Basketball Association) qualifiers at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Friday, May 30.

In a social media post on Saturday, May 31, the President said the Gilas Boys' victory shows the might of the Filipino youth.
"Isang malaking saludo sa (Our snappy salute to the) Gilas Pilipinas Youth! Congratulations on your dominant 6–0 run and the gold medal at the U-16 SEABA Qualifiers)," he wrote.
"Isang malinaw na patunay na ang galing at determinasyon ng kabataang Pilipino ay walang kapantay (This is clear proof that the Filipino youth's talent and determination are unparalleled)," he added.
Marcos assured the team that the administration would continue to support them as they advanced to the next round.
"Suportado namin kayo sa inyong susunod na laban sa FIBA Asia Cup (We're behind in you in your next match at the FIBA Asia Cup)," he said.
The Gilas Boys are now 25-0 in the SEABA qualifiers after completing a 6-0 tournament sweep, which they did behind a huge 39-point winning margin.
Malaysia bagged the bronze medal after taking down Thailand, 78-69. Singapore claimed the fifth spot, 87-78, against Vietnam.
