“We want to prevent drug-related crashes and protect the commuting public,” said LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II.
The taxi driver, tricycle driver, and two drivers of mini-buses were among the 156 PUV drivers who were randomly tested for drug use in three transportation terminals in Iloilo City during the Holy Week last April.
The permanent revocation of licenses was approved by LTO chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.
“This initiative is part of our broader commitment to keep the roads safe and free from drivers impaired by illegal drugs,” said Geduspan.
Known as “Oplan: Harabas,” the program is part of the broader initiative of the LTO to reduce the number of road crashes linked to drivers under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol.
LTO-6 Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu urged PUV operators to strictly monitor their drivers.
