The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has called on its engineers and officials to adopt innovative solutions and fast-track project implementation in support of the Marcos administration’s infrastructure program under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan issued the call during the 2025 Midyear National Convention of the District Engineers League of the Philippines, Inc. (DELP), highlighting the crucial role of engineers in driving economic progress through timely and high-quality public works.
“The challenges ahead demand boldness and commitment from our engineers who carry the mandate of transforming the nation’s landscape through quality and timely projects,” Bonoan said in his keynote message.
The convention, held in celebration of DELP’s 20th founding anniversary, gathered district engineers, regional directors, and senior DPWH officials to exchange strategies aimed at expediting project completion while promoting transparency and accountability.
Bonoan emphasized that adopting modern construction technologies and engineering innovations will enhance the department’s capacity to deliver efficient, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure nationwide.
“Technology should empower our engineers, enabling them to lead the path toward a more resilient and progressive nation,” he added.
Among the attendees were House Committee on Public Works and Highways Chairman Romeo S. Momo Sr., a former DPWH undersecretary, and key stakeholders from across the country.
The event was organized by the DELP National Executive Board, led by President Randolfo A. Melosantos, with support from the National Capital Region chapter, chaired by Arturo L. Gonzales Jr.
In closing, Bonoan reminded engineers of the deeper value of their mission, saying, “We’re not just building roads —we’re paving hope. We’re not just building bridges —we’re connecting dreams.”
