ZAMBOANGA CITY – The City Health Office reported an increase in dengue cases here in the first quarter of this year.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite said 524 dengue cases, with three fatalities, were recorded in the first four months of 2025.
The figure was 42 percent higher than the same period last year.
The number has not reached the alert and epidemic threshold.
The City Health Office is monitoring the situation as an outbreak has been observed every three years, with the last reported in 2021.
Barangays with the highest number of dengue cases were Kasanyangan, San Roque, Talon Talon, Putik, Tetuan, and Santa Catalina.
Miravite advised residents to clean their surroundings to prevent the spread of dengue.
