A carnapping incident turned deadly in Antipolo City early Friday morning, May 30, after the suspect exchanged gunfire with responding police officers.

According to the police report, the victim discovered around 3:30 a.m. that their motorcycle, which had been parked outside their residence, was missing.
In an effort to recover it, the victim immediately posted about the theft on Facebook to seek public assistance.
Shortly after, a concerned citizen who saw the post spotted a man attempting to sell what appeared to be the same motorcycle in Sitio Gipit.
The information was relayed to an individual, who informed the victim and reported the sighting to the nearest barangay outpost.
The individual approached two patrolmen who were conducting rounds in the area. Acting on the tip, the officers proceeded to investigate.
Upon noticing the police, the suspect tried to flee. During the short chase, he allegedly drew a firearm and fired two shots at the officers. One of the officers returned fire, striking the suspect in the head.
Emergency responders were called to the area, and the suspect was rushed to the nearest hospital.
Recovered from the suspect were a .38-caliber revolver with two live rounds and the stolen motorcycle.
The police have yet to release the suspect’s identity.
Further investigation regarding the incident is ongoing.
