Around P1 million worth of diamonds and cash were recovered from three individuals after kidnapping and robbing an Indian businessman at a mall in Barangay Greenhills, San Juan City, on May 29.
The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspects as "Jamal," "Mohammad," and "Machol." They were arrested inside their house in Barangay 807, San Andres Bukid in Sta. Ana, Manila.
Based on the police report, the victim was eating at a restaurant outside the Greenhills Shopping Center at around 8:40 p.m. when the suspects approached and forcibly dragged him into their vehicle, taking all of his belongings.
The suspects brutally beat the victim and threatened to kill him before leaving him for dead along the road in Barangay Sta. Lucia.
He was later discovered by concerned citizens who brought him to the police station.
A special investigation team was formed by the police to track down and apprehend the suspects.
Eventually, the team was able to pinpoint the suspects' location and launched a police operation against them, which led to their arrest.
The operatives were able to recover 30 pieces of ziplock-sealed plastic sachets containing diamonds and diamond certificates, cash amounting to P130,000, three cellphones, two wristwatches, pieces of jewelry, and four wallets. They also revealed the whereabouts of their getaway vehicle, which was later recovered in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
The suspects were charged with robbery before the San Juan Prosecutor's Office.
EPD OIC Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante lauded the arresting officers for the successful arrest of the suspects.
“May this incident serve as a stern warning to all lawless elements: the three thousand strong men and women of Eastern Police District will hold no punches against criminal activities in our jurisdiction.
