- Onic Philippines made quick work of Team Liquid PH, scoring a stunning 3-0 sweep to not only advance to a return trip to the Grand Finals of the MPL Philippines Season 15 but also punch its ticket to the Mid-Season Cup 2025 on Friday, May 30 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.
The Super Family was methodical in all of the three games, dissecting and seemingly reading through the plays of the Cavalry to actually complete the first sweep of the playoffs after all of the first four series went full distance.
Onic PH went off to a rousing start in the series, drawing first blood behind a 22-7 domination in Game 1.
King “K1NGKONG” Perez outplayed fellow star jungler Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno in the battle for the major objectives with a 7–1-11 KDA on the Suyou pick while Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez had a clean 4-0-8 performance on the Gloo.
TLPH put up a much-better performance in Game 2 though Onic PH remained on the advantage in the map control.
A 17-minute clash at the midlane, however, spelled the difference in the contest as Borris “Brusko” Parro executed the perfect initiation, knocking up three TLPH heroes on the Jeet-Kune-Do of his Chou.
All Onic PH needed to do was to follow up on the setup with K1NGKONG, on the Hayabussa, scoring a triple kill and then eventually a wipeout on TLPH to move into the series match point with a 21-15 Game 2 win.
K1NGKONG had a perfect 8-0-8 line to lead his crew while Duane “Kelra” Pillas finished with 7-1-7 tally on the Harith.
Smelling blood in the water, Onic PH showed no letup in Game 3 as Kelra ran wild on the Irithel with a 6-0-2 performance to spearhead his crew to the series-clinching 11-2 win.
