Young actor Inigo Pascual, who was part of the cast of the American musical drama "Monarch," will always consider the Philippines his home, even if he works on projects abroad.
During an interview at Star Magic’s Spotlight press conference held at Coffee Project in Wil Tower, Quezon City, recently, Inigo shared his experiences of doing auditions abroad.“
Whenever I say auditions, hindi po ibig sabihin nun lagi kang natatanggap. And for me, I’m happy that I get to do the auditions. And mahirap. Mahirap po talaga. Imagine niyo po, kung dito sa Philippines mahirap nang maging artista, imagine niyo sa America. Mas madami kang makakalaban and mas marami silang options. (Whenever I say auditions, it doesn't mean you're always accepted. And for me, I'm happy that I get to do the auditions. And it's hard. It's tough. Imagine how challenging it is to be an artist in the Philippines; it's even more difficult in the United States. You have more competition and they have more options)," said Inigo.
Recently starred in Joel Lamangan’s "Fatherland," Inigo shared how he often asks advice from his dad, Piolo Pascual.
“Lagi ako nagtatanong kay Papa lalo na dun sa mga heavy drama scenes na kailangan ko talaga ibigay ang todo. Nagtatanong ako sa kanya kung ano bang dapat kong isipin—kung yung personal pain ko ba or should I be the character? (I always ask Papa, especially during heavy drama scenes where I really have to give it my all. I ask him what I should think about—is it my personal pain or should I be the character?) And my dad says, ‘Whatever works for you and whatever works in that situation," the actor and singer-songwriter said.
However, Inigo reaffirmed his desire to continue pursuing his career here in the Philippines.“When I say I do a lot of auditions, it means I'm just taking my chances and seeing how far I can go in my career in the States. Pero sa akin, hindi ibig sabihin nun na doon lang yung magiging gusto kong career. (But for me, that doesn't mean that that's where my career will be). I still want to do my career out here in the Philippines," the young artist said.
“This is home to me. No matter what projects I get to do in another place, in another country, ito pa rin ‘yung bahay ko.” He added.
Inigo is also active in the music industry. In 2024, he released his album The Heartbreak Trilogy. He shared his future plans, saying, “Ngayon nasa proseso po ako na gumagawa po ako ng mga kanta. (Now I'm in the process of writing songs). And this year, I'm doing something different with my music. I think I’m going to go back to my roots and go back to the sound of ‘Dahil Sa'yo.’ So abangan po natin yan.”
Aside from music and movies, Inigo also shared his business ventures. “I’m starting a business this year. I’m going to be making more rug designs. And I’m also going to come up with a new brand that’s coming out very soon. Mga hygiene stuff."
