The House prosecution team in Vice President Sara Duterte's upcoming Senate impeachment trial has been informed of the sudden change in schedule regarding the presentation of the articles of impeachment against the second highest official of the land.

This was confirmed in a short statement Thursday night, May 29 by lawyer Princess Abante, spokesperson of the House of Representatives.

"Natanggap na ng Kamara de Representantes ang opisyal na liham ni Senate President Francis Escudero na ipinadala kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, hinggil sa paglipat ng iskedyul ng presentasyon ng House prosecution panel kaugnay ng Articles of Impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, mula Hunyo 2 sa bagong itinakdang petsa na Hunyo 11," Abante said.

(The House of Representatives has received the official letter from Senate President Francis Escudero, addressed to Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, regarding the rescheduling of the House prosecution panel's presentation on the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte. The date has been moved from June 2 to the newly designated date of June 11.)

"Ipinasa na ito sa House prosecution panel para sa kanilang nararapat na pag-aksyon (This has been forwarded to the House prosecution panel for appropriate action)," she added.

The Senate reportedly made this change in schedule in order to give precedence to priority bills in the upper chamber.

The Senate made the announcement following Thursday's 8th Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting with House officials and President Marcos in Malacañang.

During the meeting, House Speaker Martin Romualdez reported the near 100 percent completion of LEDAC measures on the part of the lower chamber.

June 2 was supposed to be the first session date of both House members and senators after the lengthy recess for the 2025 mid-term elections. The current 19th Congress will adjourn sine die on June 13.
