PDEA: Female passenger nabbed, attempted illegal drug smuggling thwarted at the NAIA

Operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Force (IADITF) arrested on Wednesday, May 28, a female passenger for allegedly attempting to transport illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.
In a statement, the PDEA noted that at around 1 p.m. the suspect known as alias ‘Aida’ was collared after authorities discovered illegal drugs in her hand-carry baggage during the “Final Security Screening Checkpoint in the International Departure Area.’’
The suspect was scheduled to board a flight bound for Bacolod City when she was apprehended.
“Recovered from the suspect’s hand-carry baggage was a box containing approximately two kilograms of a white crystalline substance believed to be Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated DDB standard drug price value of P13,763,200,’’ the PDEA said.
Aside from shabu, authorities also seized a cellular phone, digital weighing scale, travel documents and identification cards.
The suspect, who is now in custody, faces charges for violation of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
