Titus Sia (PSC)
Sophia Garra has won four events while Titus Sia added three titles -- both in historic fashions -- to tighten the Big City's hold of the top spot with 52 golds, 26 silvers, and 16 bronzes and way ahead of CALABARZON's 24-35-19, Western Visayas' 16-19-16. Northern Mindanao's 16-13-21, and Central Visayas' 8-10-13.
Garra of Malabon City topped the elementary girls 200m individual medley as she registered 2 minutes and 31.41 seconds to shatter Michaella Mojdeh's time of 2:33.12 in 2018.
The 12-year-old also broke her own record after finishing the 100m backstroke finals in 1 minute and 7.61 seconds.
Sia, meanwhile, posted 2 minutes and 7.86 seconds in 200m freestyle to break Rafael Barreto's 2:08.12 in 2013. He then smashed the 100m backstroke record with an effort of 1:05.44 to beat Martin Seth's 1:06.38.
“I became more confident, and not too much care about pressure… just enjoyed things and enjoyed every training,” said Sia.
“My coach told me to go for the record, I’m just happy that I was able to achieve this,” added Sia.
Meanwhile, National Academy of Sports’ Rhiannah Coleman turned heads in the secondary girls 50m breaststroke after clocking 34.24 seconds to erase Beatrize Mabalay’s time of 34.35sec last year.
The 15-year-old Coleman also topped 200m breaststroke to make it two golds for NAS.
In athletics, Bohol’s Jhul Ian Cañalita impressed anew after clocking 9 minutes and 23.89 seconds to shatter five-year-old record of Central Luzon’s Jerry Vasquez (9.35.2) in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Cañalita reigned supreme as well in the 5000m for his second gold.
In arnis, Northern Mindanao’s Shayne Mark Monreal, and CARAGA’s Airielle Lape and Queen Fairy Rose Rante bagged four gold medals each.
