VinFast makes EV adoption in PH easier

Adds VF6 EV crossover to lineup

VinFast is stepping up its campaign to make electric mobility mainstream in the Philippines, using the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) as a launchpad for a comprehensive market strategy. The Vietnamese automaker used its first MIAS appearance to introduce a three-pronged approach focused on charging accessibility, resale assurance, and flexible financing—all key factors that typically discourage Filipino car buyers from switching to EVs.
More charging stations
At the heart of this campaign is VinFast’s partnership with V-Green, a global charging infrastructure provider, which aims to deploy 15,000 charging portals across the country within 2025. Complementing this is VinFast’s promise of free public charging at its stations until 2027. With only about 900 public EV charging stations nationwide as of March 2025, this initiative signals a significant scale-up in infrastructure support.
Higher resale value
The second element of VinFast’s strategy is a generous buyback program, applicable across its entire range of EVs. The company guarantees up to 90% of the vehicle’s original value depending on ownership duration, addressing a common concern among consumers wary of long-term EV depreciation. Lastly, to reduce the barrier of high upfront costs, VinFast is partnering with leading financial institutions like BDO and EastWest Bank to offer more accessible financing schemes.
This multi-pronged approach is being rolled out in tandem with an aggressive retail expansion: more than 60 new showrooms are expected to open across the country this year under six existing distributor agreements.
Alongside this expanded retail footprint, VinFast is also broadening its model range to offer more options for Filipino EV buyers. The VF 6, which made its local debut at MIAS 2025, exemplifies VinFast’s plan to make electric vehicles more attainable to the average Filipino consumer. As part of its growing local portfolio—which also includes the VF 3, VF 5, VF 7, and VF 9—the VF 6 arrives in two variants: the Eco, priced at ₱1,419,000, and the Plus, at ₱1,610,000.
VinFast VF 6
The VF 6 delivers features and usability that aim to align with both urban and provincial driving needs. Filipino motorists often face long commutes and challenging road conditions, and the VF 6 responds with a spacious EV-first layout offering a 2.73 meter wheelbase—longer than some C-segment vehicles—and a comfortable five-seat interior. Ride comfort has been noted to strike a balance between stability and compliance, which should suit local roads.
The Plus trim includes a suite of 20 advanced driver-assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance—features not always seen at this price point. A standout is the 12.9-inch central touchscreen, which includes remote battery monitoring and pre-conditioning, making it particularly relevant for the Philippines’ hot and humid climate.
Range is another strong suit. Rated at 480 km per charge under the NEDC cycle, the VF 6 is well-positioned for longer trips, including travel from Metro Manila to destinations like Baguio or Batangas, without the need for en-route charging.
Performance-wise, the VF 6 Plus offers 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque, figures that are more than adequate for confident highway driving. And with no oil changes or combustion-related maintenance, the VF 6 stands to deliver major long-term savings. One reported case in Vietnam showed a driver spending only ₱750 in maintenance costs after 12,000 kilometers—less than the upkeep of some motorcycles.
Aftersales support is another pillar of VinFast’s rollout. A seven-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty ranks among the best in its class. Meanwhile, tie-ups with local service providers like Motech and JIGA are expected to establish up to 100 authorized service centers across the country by year-end.
As the brand gains visibility and local infrastructure strengthens, VinFast appears well-positioned to shift the EV conversation from aspirational to practical. By addressing cost, convenience, and confidence head-on, the company is betting that more Filipino motorists will view the switch to electric not just as a lifestyle choice, but as a sensible one.
