The City Intelligence Unit and City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) seized 15 packs of shabu from the 39-year-old male suspect considered a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.
Police Col. Cirilo Acosta Jr., chief of MCPO, said the suspect was arrested after weeks of close monitoring.
“This arrest is a clear message that the Mandaue City Police Office is relentless in its anti-illegal drugs campaign. We will continue to pursue and dismantle these drug networks for the safety of our citizens,” said Acosta.
Acosta said the contraband will be submitted to the forensic unit of the MCPO for chemical analysis.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect, Acosta added.
Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, lauded the Mandaue police for the accomplishment.
Maranan said the arrest showed that the campaign against illegal drugs in the region is unrelenting.
“The seizure of over P10-million worth of illegal drugs is a powerful message to traffickers and criminal groups: Central Visayas will never be a safe haven for your operations. This accomplishment reflects the strategic coordination and tireless efforts of our anti-drug units to protect our communities,” said Maranan.
