1-Rider Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez admitted on Tuesday, May 27 to "changing his outlook" on surveys in the aftermath of the May 12 mid-term elections.
“Prior to the elections, I did believe in surveys, but after the election, we saw the results—doon po tayo nagkakaroon ng (that's when I had), you know,” Gutierrez told House reporters in a chance interview.
Asked directly if the recent findings changed his outlook, the House impeachment prosecutor replied, “Personally, yes.”
Gutierrez, also a member of the House "Young Guns" bloc, had this to say about the results of the latest “Pulso ng Bayan” survey conducted from May 6 to 9 among 1,200 registered voters.
The results said that 50 percent of the respondents disagreed with the filing of the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. Meanwhile, 28 percent agreed, and 21 percent were undecided.
The survey has a ±2.8 percentage point margin of error.
Regarding the elections that the party-list solon mentioned, the various survey firms supposed' failure to capture a more accurate list of winners in the Senate race has become a major talking point.
“Nakita rin po natin kung anong resulta ng survey sa ating senatorial election. Surprised, No. 2 Senator [Bam] Aquino, and we also have Senator [Kiko] Pangilinan among others. So iyon, I really take surveys with a pinch of salt right now,” Gutierrez said.
(We also saw the survey results for our senatorial election. Surprised, No. 2 Senator [Bam] Aquino, and we also have Senator [Kiko] Pangilinan among others. So with that, I really take surveys with a pinch of salt right now.)
But Gutierrez did not go as far as to question the integrity of Pulse Asia as far as the Pulso ng Bayan was concerned.
“I won’t say biased. Supposedly there is some statistical reasoning behind it,” he said.
