Bulacan intensifies active surveillance to prevent and detect suspected Mpox cases
The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB), through the Provincial Health Office–Public Health (PHO-PH), has intensified its surveillance efforts to swiftly detect suspected Mpox cases -- formerly known as monkeypox -- amid reports of its resurgence nationwide, ensuring the health and safety of Bulakenyos.
As part of the surveillance, field investigations and contact tracing activities have been conducted in various areas to identify individuals showing symptoms aligned with Mpox infection, such as fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes.
Several specimens from suspected cases have been collected and immediately transported to the designated research facility for comprehensive analysis and evaluation.
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel Fernando emphasized the importance of vigilance and early detection.
“Isasagawa po natin ang lahat ng kinakailangang hakbang upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng Mpox. Sa pamamagitan ng aktibong pagbabantay, agarang pagsusuri at agad na pag-i-isolate ng mga pinaghihinalaang kaso, layunin nating maprotektahan ang ating mga komunidad at maiwasan ang posibleng pagputok ng sakit (We will take all necessary steps to prevent the spread of Mpox. Through active monitoring, immediate testing, and prompt isolation of suspected cases, we aim to protect our communities and prevent a possible outbreak),” Fernando said.
The PHO-PH urges the public to remain calm but cautious, observe proper hygiene practices, avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms, and report any unusual rashes or flu-like symptoms to the nearest health facility.
As of this release, no confirmed Mpox case has been reported in the Province of Bulacan, but the PGB assures continued monitoring, testing, and timely public advisories as more information becomes available.
