2 hog buyers killed as jeepney plunges into ravine

CONNER, Apayao – Two hog buyers were killed and their three companions were injured when their jeepney loaded with 18 heads of pigs plunged into a 10-meter-deep ravine in Barangay Lenneng here on Monday morning, May 26.

Police Staff Sgt. Makin, Conner police station investigator, identified the victims as Mike and Noli.
The injured were Johnny, jeepney driver, and companions Jun and Rody.
Makin said the victims were on their way home after purchasing pigs in Kabugao, Apayao to Solana, Cagayan when the jeepney brakes failed while descending a curved portion of the road.
Johnny lost control of the vehicle which plunged into the ravine.
The fatalities died on the spot due to serious head injuries. The injured were taken to a hospital.
Bodies of pigs were scattered on the ground. 
Makin advised people to check their vehicles before traveling to avoid accidents.
