2 killed in gun attack near Zamboanga City university

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons were killed by gunmen onboard a motorcycle on Gov. Alvarez Ave. near a private university here on Monday night, May 26.

Police identified the fatalities as Michael Kubili Perez, a resident of Barangay Guiwan here and Alkhan Omar of Basilan province.
Investigation showed that Perez, 41, and his companion, 18-year-old John Kyle Manlupig, had just left a billiards hall in Cariño Compound when they were shot by the suspects.
Manlupig jumped from the motorcycle and was able to escape. Perez sustained a bullet wound in the head.
Omar, 34, was driving a motorcycle when he was hit by a stray bullet.
The suspects fled and Perez and Omar were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
