BACOLOD CITY – A 44-year-old woman was fatally electrocuted and her 80-year-old father was seriously injured during a family outing in a resort in Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Sunday, May 25.

Police Capt. Darryl Kuhutan, Pontevedra police chief, said the victims went to a comfort room and failed to notice a hanging live wire.
The wire directly hit the head of the older victim. His daughter tried to help him but she was electrocuted and injured.

Kuhutan said the woman was declared dead in a hospital while her father is recuperating in a private hospital here.
Police are probing if there is negligence on the part of the resort. The resort has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, according to Kuhutan.
Kuhutan said the victims’ family is willing to press charges against the establishment.
In March last year, the resort was razed by fire.
