Makati City Police Station (Makati CPS) chief Col. Jean Dela Torre made the statement after inspecting the establishment in Salcedo Village on May 25 to verify the basis of the claim.
"On May 25, 2025, at around 11:53 a.m., Col. Dela Torre, together with Capt. Philadianne Fronee Clemeña, visited the premises of an establishment located in Salcedo Village to meet with its property manager. The purpose of the visit was to courteously inquire into the basis of a published reminder she issued, stating that there is a "rampant hold-up riding-in-tandem" situation in Salcedo Village. This came after Makati City Police reviewed official crime records and confirmed that no robbery incident was reported in Salcedo Village from January 2025 to present," the Makati CPS said.
Although the concerned personnel was unavailable, the police officials were received by security officers who acknowledged the consistent and swift coordination of the Makati CPS and clarified that the statement in question, did not reflect any verified or reported incidents to their property or security personnel. He also affirmed the active partnership between the police and the private security officers in crime prevention not only in the areas of Salcedo Village," the statement added.
Accoriding to Dela Torre, the police maintains a constant and active coordination with various security providers across Makati to ensure a unified and well-informed response to any incident.
"This collaboration also allows us to align on proactive measures aimed at preventing the commission of crimes, thereby fostering a safer and more secure Makati City for all," she added.
Following her inspection, the official said the police force is considering filing appropriate charges against those responsible for the drafting and publishing of the unverified reminder, which may have caused undue public anxiety and unlawfully affected the credibility of various government institutions.
"While Makati CPS supports the right of individuals and establishments to express concerns about safety, such statements must be grounded in fact and aligned with official data to avoid misinformation. Makati City Police Station encourages responsible and coordinated communication to ensure that the public receives accurate and constructive information at all times," Dela Torre stressed.
She added that the Makati CPS remains open to dialogue and coordination with all stakeholders.
"The safety of our communities is a shared responsibility, and the PNP continues to work diligently to protect all residents and businesses across the city."
